We are a small but active team and are always interested in hearing about new projects. To establish whether a book might be right for our list, we ask authors to send us a short sample in the first instance.
Fiction: Please send a brief introduction of around 200 words, describing what the book is about and who you think the book is for, together with the first 600 words of your manuscript.
Non-fiction: Please send a summary of around 350 words explaining what the book is about, why you think it will interest readers, and tell us a little about yourself as a writer. Please also include a sample of around 300 words of your writing.
Please don't send a complete manuscript at this stage – if we feel the project has the potential to be a good fit for Archetype Books, we will ask to see more of your work.
What happens next?
We will review your initial submission and let you know whether we think the project could be a good fit for Archetype Books.
If we have been excited by your submission and can see possibilities for collaboration, we will invite you to send a synopsis and a longer sample of your manuscript. This will allow us to look more closely at the project and, where appropriate, discuss what is already working well, what could be strengthened and what your next steps towards publication might be.
